Our Board
The Institute for Biblical Exploration (IBEX) board is made up of both scholars and practitioners in the fields of Old Testament, New Testament, Biblical & Near Eastern Archaeology, Church History, Christian Education, and Ministry. Each of them is committed to both the enhancement of Christian education in the Church and also to public education, both of which they provide through their work with IBEX, as well as through their own teaching ministries.
DR. RALPH K. HAWKINS, PH. D
Dr. Hawkins is the Executive Director of IBEX, LLC. and Co-Director of The Jordan Valley Excavation Project (see more here). He is also the Chair of the Religion Department at Averett University. He currently completing a commentary on Joshua through Lexham Press, as well a book entitled Discovering Exodus: Content, Reception, Interpretation in partnership with SPCK and Eerdmans.
MRS. CATHERINE HAWKINS, M.A
Catherine Hawkins holds a degree in Biblical Studies from Kentucky Christian University. She also Adjunct Instructor in New Testament. She currently teaches Intro to New Testament Literature and Life and Letter of Paul at Averett University.
REV. KAMERON WILDS, M.DIV
Kameron Wilds received his Bachelors in Religious Studies at Ferrum College and a Master of Divinity from Duke University Divinity School. He is currently the Lead Pastor at Smith Memorial UMC in Collinsville and an Adjunct Instructor in the Religion Department at Ferrum College.
DR. MARK NICKENS, PH.D
Mark Nickens (Ph.D., Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) is a professor of New Testament and Church history, and has taught at seminaries in the USA, Belize, India, Kenya, and Nigeria. To find out more about Dr. Nickens and his work click here.
DR. JOHN LAUGHLIN, PH.D
John Laughlin, (Ph.D Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) is the Emeritus Proffesor of Religion at Averett University. He excavated for more than 20 years at various sites in Israel. He is the author of Archeology and The Bible, and Fifty Major Cities of The Bible both published by Routledge.
